Which Kerala airport should you fly into from Mumbai?
Fly into Kochi. It is the closest airport to Munnar, about 4 hours by road, and roughly 2 to 2.5 hours from Alleppey, the two ends of our Munnar & Alleppey route.
If your route ends on the beach at Kovalam, return from Trivandrum instead. That airport is about 30 minutes from Kovalam, which saves most of a day driving back north.
How many days do you need for Kerala from Mumbai?

Is the train from Mumbai to Kerala worth it?
Only if the journey is part of the holiday. Trains from Mumbai to Kochi follow the Konkan coast and take about a day, sometimes longer, so a return trip by rail uses two days of leave.
